Letter from Rabbi Kerrith Solomon
Our Eyes Turn to the Future, Next Year in Religious School

Dear Religious School Families,

It has been nothing short of remarkable to watch your children grow and learn, together, in this new environment. Our heartfelt Yasher Koach’s to each of you for your dedication to their Jewish journeys, and we look forward to continuing to learn and connect with you and your children in the days ahead.

Being in relationship with you and your children, sharing Jewish tradition and frameworks to help us navigate these days, and drawing strength from one another through our learning and community gatherings is what has, and continues, to sustain each of us.

We are immensely proud of our education team here at Adas, who have continued to connect and serve our families in ways none of us could ever have imagined just a few short months ago. Now, we turn our eyes to future, and to the sacred work of preparing for our school year next year. As always, we pledge to you the following:

  • We will continue to provide a high level of content, programs, and experience for all grades.
  • Our students will continue to learn at pace and will be prepared to mark their Jewish milestones.
  • Our curriculum will, as always, emphasize Torah, Judaics, Tefillah, and Hebrew.
  • We will continue to infuse our learning with music, art, stories and love of Judaism.
  • We will create meaningful community and peer structures to support our students and families.

Like every school community, we too are planning for multiple logistical contingencies for how our learning will be structured in the fall and beyond. This will of course be informed by guidance from public officials, the CDC, OSSE (Office of the State Superintendent of Education) and a host of outside experts. We will of course keep you closely informed as specific plans develop. Most importantly, the content we offer will continue to reflect Adas Israel’s unique, dynamic, and celebrated approach to Jewish life and education, and will serve as a beacon for religious education across our movement and beyond.

This may be uncharted territory for all of us, but it is full of potential for creativity, imagination and innovation. More than ever, we believe our students have great need of the community, framework, resources and relationships their Jewish education provides. We are here and ready to accompany you on this journey.

Lehitraot,
Rabbi Kerrith Solomon
