New Year of the Trees: A Workshop in Yoga & Writing Led by Yael Flusberg
Wednesday, January 27, 2021 • 14 Shevat 5781
7:30 PM - 8:45 PMZoomIn the midst of winter, when life feels barren and bleak, Jews observe Tu B’shvat, also known as the New Year of the Trees. On this day, what was frozen deep inside a tree begins to thaw, rising beneath the surface of its bark. Flowing slowly from roots buried in the frozen ground, the tree’s vascular system sends sap up toward outstretched branches, where it can help a tree blossom and bear fruit. We humans are much like our tree-cousins, living through periods of dormancy followed by seasons of renewal. In this workshop led by Yael Flusberg, we will work with our spines, senses, and imagination to celebrate the pleasure that this holiday brings. Please wear comfortable clothes, a yoga mat or thick carpet to practice on and bring a blanket, a tennis ball and your favorite notebook and pen.
