Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend 2020 Join together as a community as we celebrate and explore the wisdom, courage, and legacy of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Special Shabbat meals and programming will be guided by the Kehilah Multiracial Engagement Project (KMEP) and community leaders, and Shabbat services will include music honoring Dr. King. Friday, January 17 Saturday, January 18 Dr. Cheryl Greenberg is the Paul E. Raether Distinguished Professor of History at Trinity College in Hartford, CT. Her research focuses on 20th-century African American history, Black-Jewish relations, race and ethnicity, and civil rights and social movements. She is the author of numerous publications, including Troubling the Waters: Black-Jewish Relations in the American Century, Princeton University Press.
Roderick Giles & Grace is a music group that is passionate about singing and ministering in excellence to bring hope, love, joy, peace, and happiness to the hearts of all who hear them. Roderick, a native Washingtonian and accomplished musician, formed this group in 2013. Members of Grace have performed at many prestigious venues including the White House, The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, The Washington Convention Center, BET Studios, and many local venues. They have toured Europe, provided vocals for legendary gospel singers, and are looking forward to this musical collaboration in their first Shabbat morning service. |
