Can We Build Affordable Housing in NW Washington?

Can We Build Affordable Housing in NW Washington?
Sunday, April 11, 5:00-6:15 pm
Zoom

Washington, DC has an affordable housing crisis and Mayor Bowser plans to build 36,000 new housing units by 2025, of which 1,990 will be located in Rock Creek West/Ward 3.  WIN (Washington Interfaith Network) Ward 3 Congregations Affordable Housing Work Group is educating and advocating for more affordable housing in Ward 3. Join a moderated discussion on Sunday, April 11, 5:00-6:15pm on the history of housing discrimination, segregation and displacement, and the efforts to build affordable housing in NW Washington. We’ll watch a short video on how federal, state and local government laws and policies in the mid-twentieth century created segregation, and then Temple Sinai’s Matthew Frumin will talk about the housing history of Ward 3.  Evan Goldman with EYA (a for-profit developer) and Leila Finucane (with non-profit Victory Housing) will discuss the challenges of building affordable housing. Rabbi Alexander and Temple Sinai Rabbi Goldstein will teach and inspire us to action! The program is hosted by the WIN (Washington Interfaith Network) Ward 3 Congregations Affordable Housing Work Group that includes Adas Israel Congregation, National United Methodist Church and Temple Sinai.
