2:00 PM - 4:00 PMAdas Israel CongregationIn Special Partnership with Adas Israel, 3GDC Invites You to A Multigenerational Authors Panel
Please join 3GDC - Washington DC Grandchildren of Holocaust Survivors for a moderated discussion led by Dr. Aleisa Fishman, historian and founding staff member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, featuring Edith Cord, a first generation Holocaust survivor and author of Finding Edith, Max Hirshfeld, a second generation Holocaust survivor and author of Sweet Noise: Love in Wartime, and Felice Cohen, grandchild of Holocaust survivors and author of What Papa Told Me.
Edith Cord’s tales about hiding in plain sight as a young Jewish girl fleeing Nazi Europe and her subsequent career in the U.S. will be sure to inspire, and we are grateful for the opportunity to hear her speak. Raised in small-town Alabama by Polish Jewish emigres, Max Hirshfeld tells his parents’ WWII love story through photos and letters, while making sense of his own place in history. Felice Cohen's story, written with help from her Polish Holocaust survivor, Papa, feels timely and important as the third generation faces anti-Semitism and hardship as Jews.
Please register below if you plan to join us on February 23. We are thrilled to introduce you to Edith, Max, and Felice...3 generations who will come together to tell us how they preserved their family's legacies and became authors in the process.
*Books will be available for sale by author immediately following the panel*
