Series #2: May 16 and 30

Everyday lately seems like another wave of bad news from the war in Ukraine, to the climate emergency, to the state of politics in the United States and abroad.  How do we face troubling times with an open heart and a resilient spirit?  Our rabbis faced a world that was in tumult and continued to innovate, re-charge, find their footing and carry on.  How do we learn from their experiences?

In this 2 part (3 week session) we will explore stories from the Talmud, the Zohar and the teachings of the mystics on building a resilient spirit.  All texts will be provided in both Hebrew and English.  We will study the contexts in which these texts were written, how the rabbis and mystics approached their struggles and how we might integrate resilience into our own lives.

JMCW and Briyut are excited to announce a new set of spiritual resources to help enter and reenter our sacred spaces following the profound shifts of the last two years.  We hope that each person in our community finds something within the following resources that speaks to them. They are being offered freely and a la carte.  (There is no obligation to participate in all of them.)

Adas Israel received a generous Signature Grant from the Covenant Foundation to help us develop these resources.

Dip in the Adas Mikvah

adasisrael.org/mikvah

One goal of mindfulness is to find moments of alignment, where body, mind, and soul are all engaged. Mikvah is a powerful Jewish ritual through which we can experience this alignment. Many people are able to achieve a harmony of their being in a single Mikvah immersion. Others establish a regular practice of Mikvah, akin to yoga or meditation, in which they experiment with different ways of immersing and find the ones that bring them closest to Oneness. You can now book a Mikvah immersion completely online, by clicking here. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to the Director of the Mikvah Rabbi Elianna Yolkut
