Fourth Annual
Joseph & Mollie Muchnick Selichot Lecture featuring
Artist Mordechai Rosenstein on "The Art and Artistry of Jewish Life"
The Hebrew alphabet is the essence of the art of
Mordechai Rosenstein: “The flowing forms of the letters
have been an inspiration to me since my youth,” says the
artist. Rosenstein’s love of these forms is evident in every
piece he creates. His vibrant shapes and colors enhance synagogue
interiors, tapestries, paintings, murals, and silk screen prints.
Rosenstein’s unique style evolved as a result of various influences.
He was a member of the first graduating class of Akiba
Hebrew Academy, and while studying at the Philadelphia College
of Art, Rosenstein was profoundly influenced by abstract expressionist
professor Franz Kline. By uniting his interest in Judaica and
painting, Rosenstein has given contemporary meaning to the art of
Hebrew calligraphy. (More

The Mollie and Joseph Muchnick
Selichot Lecture Endowment Fund was
established by their children and grandchildren
to bring speakers to our congregation
on the eve of the High Holy Day season.
We are grateful to their family for creating
this meaningful endowment.
The entire congregation is invited to
join us for the Muchnick Selichot Lecture
at 9:00 PM, followed by a dessert reception.
In addition, Rosenstein’s artwork will be on
display in the Mendelson Gallery throughout
the High Holy Day season. |
