3. Ruach Minyan - Carlebach style Shabbat evening service
 
The next Ruach Minyan Shabbat evening service will be this Friday, November 7 at 6:30 p.m. upstairs in the Sisterhood Hall with a catered Shabbat dinner to follow in the Youth Lounge. 4. Minyan Occasional Meeting
 
There will be a Minyan Occasional Meeting to discuss any Minyan concerns on Wednesday, November 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the Miller Chapel (right after the evening minyan at 5:45 p.m.) If you have any comments, questions, or concerns for the meeting agenda, email traditionalminyan at adasisrael.org or any other members of the Minyan Coordinating Committee. The Minyan Coordinating Committee members are Dirk Aardsma, Rebecca Weiner, and Rebecca Boggs, Nechama Masliansky and Ken Goldstein.
 
5. Minyan Facebook site
 
A Facebook site has been set up for the Minyan. If you are a Facebook user, search for “Adas Israel Traditional Egalitarian Minyan” and sign up as our friend! (Please note: if you signed up in the name “Adas Israel Traditional Minyan,” we will just use the group “Adas Israel Traditional Egalitarian Minyan” so please sign up for that group).

6. Volunteer in the Minyan
 
There are many opportunities to get involved in the Minyan! The Adas Israel Traditional Minyan is self-led, totally participatory, and welcomes everyone's involvement in all aspects of services, including children who can lead Ashrei and other prayers.

To sign up to lead services (daven), please contact Maya Bernstein, the Davening Coordinator. You can make Maya's job easy by signing up to daven (lead services - P'sukei D'Zimrah, Shacharit, and Musaf) early and often! Email mayabe at umich.edu today.
 
If you would like to serve as the new Davening coordinator, making sure slots are filled for daveners for P'sukei D'Zimrah, Shacharit, and Musaf each week, email Maya or speak to anyone on the Coordinating Committee, or email adasminyan at yahoo.com. Thank you to Maya for serving as Davening coordinator over the past year or so.

To read Torah (Leyn), email weneedleyners at yahoo.com. The Minyan reads the full Torah reading each week; however, there are many short readings during the year.  There are several openings over the next few weeks.

If you would like to give the announcements sometime, either once or for a longer period of time, email adasminyan at yahoo.com. This is a good position for a newcomer to become more involved and to meet more people in the Minayn. Announcements this week: Maya Bernstein.

7. Daily Minyan - please try to come on Wednesdays
 
The Traditional Minyan has “adopted” Wednesday evenings to help the congregational daily Minyan. So, if you are in the Cleveland Park area on Wednesday evenings at 5:45 p.m., please stop by for 15 minutes and help make the daily minyan!

Please help make the daily Minyan, especially in the evenings. Morning Minyan, Monday - Friday, 7:30 am. Every evening, services begin at 5:45 p.m.
Shabbat Mincha: 4:45 p.m. (note new time).

Winter Coat Drive: to benefit SOME (So Others Might Eat). Now that we have all begun to dig out our winter clothes we are sure to come upon outgrown coats or ones which will not be worn again by our families.  Please bring them to the Ezra Pantry.  You will see a large wardrobe box in the coat room dedicated to winter coats.  LET’S FILL IT!  Place outgrown or no longer used winter coats in the wardrobe box in the coatroom by Thanksgiving and they will be donated to someone in need.  Thank you!

Minyan-goer to speak at AJC lunch event, November 7
 
Please join the Washington Chapter of the American Jewish Committee on Friday, November 7, from noon to 1:30 p.m., at the AJC office, 1156 15th Street NW, for a discussion on “Prospects for Peacefully Stopping Iran’s Nuclear Weapons Program,” with Orde Kittre, professor of law at Arizona State University and a member of the Council of Foreign Relatons. Kittre has testified before the US House and Senate on non-proliferation issues this year and currently serves on a 12-member commission created by Congress to make recommendations on US non-proliferation policy. Prior to becoming a law professor, Kittre served for eleven years at the State Department, including as a specialist on non-proliferation and sanction issues. After an exciting opening week of the Jewish Study Center's Fall semester, new classes join the ongoing ones this week. USY International Convention in DC, December 21 - 25 - volunteers needed
 
The USY (United Synagogue Youth) International Convention will be held in Washington, DC at the Marriot Wardman Park, December 21 - 25. Come experience the fun and excitement of USY! Over 500 volunteers are needed. Anyone over the age of 19 can volunteer for short 2-hour shifts. You don’t need to be a USY alum to volunteer. Heritage Class
 
This popular six-session literacy class enables participants to explore their past and consider a meaningful Jewish future. Jewish texts are used to discuss views on tikkun olam (social activism) and how Judaism is intricately tied into personal journeys, joy, relationships, rituals and community.  Each week, we discuss a different topic of Judaism and how our values are shaped around these issues. Sessions are always engaging, though-provoking, inspiring……plus a lot of fun.  Learners of all levels of Jewish background are welcome.  Join us!

Event: Healthy Noshing: Nutrition Basics for Women
Host: Yachad Hadassah

Join Yachad for this fun and informative look at nutrition. A registered dietitian will instruct participants on the principles of healthy eating and how to formulate meal plans for weight maintenance or healthy weight loss.  We will also discuss women's emotional connection to food and techniques to avoid the midnight "dash to the fridge."
